Obergruppenführer Wilhelm Bittrich was a high-ranking officer in the Waffen-SS and played a key role in Operation Market Garden, an Allied airborne operation during the Second World War. In the film "A Bridge Too Far", Bittrich is portrayed by Maximilian Schell and tries to negotiate the surrender of the British paratroopers in the city of Arnhem. However, the English officers refuse his demand and respond with the famous words: "We haven't the proper facilities to take you all prisoner! Sorry!"
